Im in the process of blogging two really great Beaver Creek, Colorado weddings. This one in particular was held at the Westin Beaver Creek, and it proved a great day to be a wedding photographer.
My goal every time I shoot a wedding is to make it the best of my career. I feel that I captured some great moments at this one in particular is no exception, as I’m really happy with the images.
Ty (Tyler) and Matt are a super fun couple, definitely very animated! Ty has an awesome personality and is a blast to work with, and Matt is kind of line a mime, except not quiet. 🙂 Super fun, animated couple, and you can tell what a great relationship they have together.
Anyway, let’s go!
Meet the couple: Ty and Matt
As usual, my day starts off looking for all the important details in the bridal suite!
I love this shot of my great friend and second shooter, Kent. I love working with Kent because he inspires me to seek out the uniqueness of every wedding. He’s always looking for new angles and as a very seasoned photographer, it’s nice to see him shoot with such amazing enthusiasm.
But this photo is just funny, as it was the first sight of Kent that many of the bridesmaids had of him, as he crept in outside and started shooting!
Here’s Ty, getting some finishing touches.
When I talked to Ty on the phone a couple of weeks before the wedding, she emphasized the importance of getting some meaningful candid moments of her and her mom, who as of recently is a cancer fighter. I could tell just hearing her voice, that it was incredibly important. As a person who has at least one friend that I know of with breast cancer, I could definitely understand. You’ll see Ty’s mom in this post not ashamed at all to show off her decorated head, and for the wedding, she wore some hair. I saw her a few times outside of the wedding and she prefers no hair over fake hair and I really respect this woman a lot and am cheering her on in her current battle.
The bouquet arrived and looked AMAZING!
Ava, the very serious, but very cute flower girl…
I was asked to find the groom. Found him! By the pool. No worries.
Finally got Matt in to get ready. Took him all of 3 minutes and 36 seconds. 🙂
Flower girl chills out before showtime.
Family pearls.
I got mom and Ty together after mom put on her hair. They posed for a shot. But I think these tell the better story.
Matt’s kind of shy, so I did what I could to get him to open up. 😉
For the first look, he snuck a bottle of champagne behind a rock. Sneaky!
Time for a first look.
Time to get married.
Guests!
Now, who’s got the ring?
This was a first: groom prefers to wear the ring on his thumb….
🙂
Buffet was amazing. BBQ, onion rings, and the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. Incredible…
A hight for me was when the father of the bride was introducing a groomsman during his toast. He took a classic fall from his chair. Made for a hilarious sequene!
Father of the groom.
The father of the bride was the source of my referral for this job! Something like 8 years ago, he attended a wedding in Arizona that I was photographing! He kept my business card that whole time and set me up with a consultation for his very own daughter’s wedding! So cool! This one’s for you, Mr. Markey!
Matts mom is looking amazing after 36 years of raising a very energetic son!
Tys brother!
I was told to expect two things out of Matt for the reception: The worm… and a shirtless shot. Done…
Congo line! ha!
…and DONE! Pour some sugar on me!
And I’d say ‘that’s all she wrote’, but these are 90 shots of about 600 that I have yet to edit. I’m excited to finish up this wedding! Ty and Matt – thanks so much for having me out, and I hope I’ll see plenty more of you here in Denver!

These are amazing!!! I met Scott a few years back at a workshop in Santa Fe. What a great guy! I am not shocked at all that he would find such talent for his daughters wedding! Great job!!!
