2012 was an awesome year and I can’t believe that 2013 is already almost 1/12 of the way through! 😉
My new web site needs some blog posts and a big goal for me this year is to blog more and facebook less. So I am just trying to get some fun stuff up here.
Anyway, wow, what a year: 2012. I did a lot of traveling. From Orange County and Napa Valley all the way to Mexico and NYC. But there are two trips that really stick out for me: Italy for a wedding I photographed for a Lebanese couple who found me through Castello di Modanella’s preferred list (thank you Marie and Fabrizio for being such great supporters of my work, even though I’m way out here in the US!) and then the following weekend after returning home, it was off to O’ahu Hawaii for an incredible Hawaiian wedding.
The jet lag really messed with me but it was totally worth it.
Here are some of my favorite *non-wedding shots from 2013
This is a cool BW photo I got at the end of a single day that I spent in Turin with my camera. The sun was setting and illuminating only 1/3 of this incredible hilltop castle. The trip was amazing. Great food. Met some good new friends and had some nice self-bonding time, too.
As I was walking through Turin, like I was in some sort of weird musical, a woman popped out of a balcony and started playing the violin. It was incredible. It stopped this mime in his tracks, too, as he stopped performing to witness the talent of another.
It was my last day on the Island and on my way to the airport to catch my redeye back home, I was exhausted. But I realized I hadn’t gotten any personal images yet. This is the only shot that I took for myself on that trip. A 30-second exposure post-sunset. My camera was propped onto the suitcase that I drug onto the beach. It was getting dark, but I walked away a winner with this one. I love it.
The management at Modanella treated me to a few extra days at the castle, asking only that I take a few landscape photos of the property for them. Deal. It came with lasagna and wine from their vineyards and unlimited pool time. How can you say no to that. On top of that I get this amazing HDR image that baffles people who look at it in my gallery here in Denver. Done. Deal.
OK this is NOT from 2012. But since I’m posting some of my favorites… for the record, this is one of my fav’s of all time. From a trip I made to Switzerland. Two goals: 1. Ski the Swiss Alps and eat lots of chocolate. 2. See the Matterhorn and get a sweet photo of it. It really is surreal. The experience of looking at this incredible peak. Hope you like. This is also on display in my Denver gallery.
