Today I shot the US Lacrosse World Games Final match between USA and Canada. I’m sorry to say that Canada won the championship game, but as you’ll see, it was a very physical, action packed game. Canada put up a great fight and came up on top, but USA played equally well, which made for a really action packed game.
As usual, expect to see lots of photos of #29 because Lee Zink is a good friend and I was shooting this to get some great shots of him just as I was trying to provide US Lacrosse with some good coverage. Thanks to the guys at US Lacrosse for the media pass!
The game started up super fast.
Before we lost the sun, we got some awesome light!
Super physical game. Everyone really wanted the title, you could feel it.
Got whacked.
USA fans started getting a little concerned at the start of the 3rd quarter.
I love photographing the fans. Everyone had a blast cheering on the US Team.
There’s Lee. He was like, “Mark, get open!”. I was like, “I don’t know how to play!”
Team USA made a valiant push in the 4th quarter, and got everyone up on their feet…
Game Over Selfy
And the champions this year: Team Canada. I was really bummed that I wasn’t photographing a celebrating US team.
Some heart broken fans.
One of the US players tossed his elbow pads into this crowd. This guy caught one and was particularly excited. I was joking in my head about how funny it would be if he sniffed it, and guess what…
HE DID IT! OMG HE SNIFFED IT!!! ha ha! His neighbor thinks he has issues. I agree.
Lee’s family are no doubt extremely proud, no matter the outcome. As am I – great game Lee! Time to BBQ again!
