It was a perfect Superbowl Sunday for me.
I got up early and met a team mate of mine for a training ride. We rode pretty solid for almost 3 hours, hitting up some great scenery from Parker, through Castle Pines, Sedalia and Decker, over to Castle Rock and back. A rollercoaster ride with some good hills, and the weather was just slightly chilly, some whispy looking clouds and no wind: my favorite weather condition for riding.
Straight from my ride, I was off to pick up some thick steaks, some obnoxiously huge potatoes, wine and beer and got home with just enough time to shower up before some family and friends arrived for the game.
We wanted a good game, and we got it! I had no real big interest on who would win. Part of me wanted the ravens to win, and part of me thought it would be cool to see a rookie QB from SF win. But to be honest, my major priorities were food and Superbowl commercials (can’t help it, I’m a photographer and a marketing grad!).
There are three that stick out in my mind. Actually 4 but one sticks out in my mind because I hated it so much, that I’m not going to disgrace my blog post with it’s presence.
From a humor perspective, I love this Doritos commercial. It’s funny and somehow it makes me want to eat some Doritos, but that doesn’t really take much! I also love that it was a winning submission by amateurs! Awesome:
Then of course the commercial that every photographer surely loves, but I like this in particular because I have always wanted to spend a few months on a farm in Texas or in the South somewhere or even the Midwest and just document the day of the life of a farmer. My wife is from Alabama and her family lives on an obscure piece of land with lots of farm animals. They drink Miller beer and have a keen appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. It seems this photographer got to live part of my dream and it landed him a spot in the Superbowl Spotlight!
And my favorite might be this Budweiser commercial because I love the relationships that we can have with animals. This one reminded me of my dog, Gary, who had to leave us a few months ago. Cool commercial!
