About a week ago I shot a really cool wedding elopement at one of my favorite Colorado destinations, Devil’s Thumb Ranch. I like this place so much, that I got married there myself! Definitely proud to be one of their select preferred photographers.
Stef and Lucas hired me exactly one week before their big day! I was really excited to shoot an elopement. I love to really hone in on the raw emotions, un-distracted from all of the commotion. Everyone knows I love to photograph all kinds of weddings, from the cornfields of Iowa to the vineyards of Tuscany. Each wedding has it’s own special vibe. My job is to capture that visually. And so I have the best job in the world. 🙂
First, let’s meet the crazy couple. Stefanie is an EXTREMELY nice person It’s hard to describe without meeting her in person. Super fun and happy and positive. It’s no wonder Lucas is so happy to have her as his wife! Lucas is a mustached, rugby-playing gentleman. A real classy guy, but I wouldn’t tell him any mustache jokes to his face. 😉
I got a nice candid portrait of Lucas as he got mentally ready for his big moment. The mustache is perfection. He doesn’t always wear a mustache, but he had one when they met, so it was kind of appropriate to bring it back for their wedding! And nice of Stef, because we guys know how unpredictable a thing like a mustache can affect a woman’s opinion!
Bluebird skies and that same funny cloud that always seems to hover over the backdrop at Devil’s Thumb Ranch
Funny thing about being a photographer at an elopement is that my duties extend beyond photographer. I actually helped Stef put on her necklace. That was a first!
Super excited. I love when I can capture these kinds of emotions.
It was a short and simple ceremony.
Their first dance was spectacular. Just the two of them in this big Broad-Axe Barn!
We went out and had a little fun in the snow.
They had their first meal together as husband and wife in the famous DTR Wine Cellar. Makes for awesome photos, too!
Congrats Stefanie and Lucas! Such a great day and a pleasure and honor to spend it with you!
